Retinal Digital Imaging-No Drops Examination
The Comprehensive Exam at Florida Optical always includes a Retinal Screening with an Imaging System that requires no dilation. The OPtometrist Screenis for Cataracts, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, as well as numerous other eye diseases.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a silent disease. Adults and children could have high intraocular pressure. Our Optometrist uses a "soft Puff" tonometer to measure eye pressure. Also, a Visual Field is performed to determine if your peripheral vision is compromised. If you have high pressure that may damage the optic nerve requires medical treatment.
Macular Degeneration
Our Optometrists screen for macular degeneration. Macular Degeneration is a disease that causes the fovea centralis to lose its health by making it prone to dryness areas known as drussens as well as attracting abnormal vessels that may bleed.
Cataract Evaluation
To some degree, Cataract are directly related to aging. The yellowing and opacification of the crystalline lens causes that you experience glare as well as a blurry image.
